Where Do You Find Strength ?

Recently my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and in helping her with her journey I asked my self the question I purposed in the title of this blog. The reason why is I saw it in my mother so let me explain.

Once the initial shock of the diagnose wore off the treatment options became the next thing my mother was faced with ,and according to the doctor the one with the most likely hood of removing all the cancer was a mastectomy and to further prevent spreading of the disease the doctor recommended a bilateral (both). Knowing that she was faced with a tough decision she took comfort in what my opinion was at which point I asked her a simple question What do you want ? She looked at me almost in tears and said she just wanted to live and wasn't ready and at that point she realized all on her own that her decision was made.

This was a little over two months ago the doctors told us that they need to act fast to prevent potential spreading of the disease and promptly made the arrangements for the procedure. Two days ago the surgery took place. I tell you I am not a man that fears much but that day as rough in the sense I was just fearful for obvious reasons. I asked god to do what was right and watch over her and that no matter what the outcome I was prepared to deal. My mother entered surgery at 1:00pm and finished 8 hours later with everything a success.

Being that she was under so long I didn't speak with her that first evening but promptly saw her the next day and that was the moment that lead to this blog. When we saw each other and she hugged me tighter than my mother ever would normally do and we just cried and we picked up our conversation right where it left off before she went into surgery. To me it was surreal I mean she just under went a very invasive procedure and she is acting as if nothing happened. Then I asked my self where does her strength come from ? For which I knew the answer she had decided that living was her ultimate goal and she met that goal. My mother was full of smiles and laughter and all I could think was I am proud of her and she is one of the strongest people I have ever met, and it is because of her I am those things. My mom is my hero.

I know her journey has just begun but I am comforted because I know the strength she possesses because I have it in me. The only take I way I have for this blog is this

Where do you find strength?

What drives you?

Knowing these answers are critical regardless of what your trying to accomplish from fighting health issues to building a business the world rewards those who are clear on what they want.

Until My Next Post God Bless and Good Luck
